Pequot Lakes Police Dept.
Report to the City Council
March 28, 2007
So far for the month of March the Department logged 323 individual ICRs.
Current Activities:
The Reserves, Part time and Full time Officers recorded 197 separate business and home security checks
for the month. The Reserves continued to assist with crowd security for girls and boys high school
basketball games.
The new countywide record system went online on March 20'h. The new system will take a bit of work
getting used to, but should be a tremendous asset to all the departments being able to share information
more efficiently.
Training:
March: Officer Gartner and K9 Shadow attended Re-certification on 3/28.
Officers Hogan, Nangle, Petersen and Ryan attended School Shooter training at the
Eagleview Elementary on 3/28.
Reserves Craig and Julie Friday and Carl Borleis attended the annual Minnesota Police
Reserve Officer Association Spring Conference. They reported back to the rest of the
reserves at their monthly meeting that it was an excellent educational opportunity.
April: All full-time officers will attend Mandatory Annual training here at the dept. on a
variety of subjects including, use of force, defensive tactics, blood and airborne
pathogens and others.
Annual Chief's Conference will take place in St. Cloud.
Upcoming Activities:
The Police and Fire Departments along with other local ambulance service, air care and other emergency
services will begin organizing a DUI crash site demonstration to be presented to the Junior and Senior
classes of the Pequot Lakes High School. The life like simulation will take place the beginning of April,
before the students have their prom. These demonstrations have been shown to make a positive impact
on the student's choice to not drink and drive.
Significant Cases:
•S Several members of the Department have been involved in 3 different ongoing narcotics cases.
Respectfully Submitted,
Jerry Braam
Chief of Police
