Pequot Lakes Police Dept.
Report to the City Council
February 28, 2007
For the month of February the Department logged 352 individual ICRs. A couple of Officers also had
time in court during the month.
Current Activities:
In the month of February, The Reserves, Part time and Full time Officers recorded 289 separate business
and home security checks, finding 2 open doors — one house and one business. The Reserves have
continued to assist with crowd security for girls and boys high school basketball games as well as Dance
line competitions.
Office Manager Wedan attended a couple trainings for the new CWC records management system. All
Dept officers attended an overview session with full training to be attended in March. At this time the
new system will be going online on March 13th for the Sheriff s Dept, Brainerd and Baxter Police Dept.
PLPD and other outlying departments will be connecting the following week.
The Department impound lot construction has been completed and the lot already put to use with 3
vehicles.
Training:
Feb: Officers Nangle and Hogan attended 1St Aid Refresher training.
Officer Gartner attended EMT Refresher training.
March: Officer Gartner and K9 Shadow will attend Re-certification, weather permitting.
All Reserves will attend 1St Aid, CPR and AED training here at our Dept.
Upcoming Activities:
Part time officer Kate Petersen will be attending a Law Enforcement Club Competition in the state of
Delaware in March. The Central Lake College Club has held fund raising over the past year to pay their
way to this annual competition. The Whole Department wishes her the best of luck.
The Police and Fire Departments along with other local ambulance service, air care and other emergency
services will begin organizing a DUI crash site demonstration to be presented to the Junior and Senior
classes of the Pequot Lakes High School. The life like simulation will take place the beginning of April,
before the students have their prom. These demonstrations have been shown to make a positive impact
on the student's choice to not drink and drive.
