j
PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT
MINUTES OF THE MARCH 7, 2007 MEETING
The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 25 members
were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved by a motion by
Loven, second by Selter, motion passed.
Truck checks were discussed. Engine 1 was missing a broom. Engine 2 was OK, however
the front line was missing the nozzle and only had 100 feet of hose. Engine 3's lights do
not flash, it was missing spanner wrenches, and the muffler is bad. Rescue 1 was missing
a small axe and one survivor light. Rescue 2 was OK. Grass 1 was not checked. Grass 2
was missing a gas can. Tanker 1 has an extra 1 '/z" double male and the rear back-up light
was repaired. Tanker 2 was OK. Tanker 3 was missing a hydrant wrench, has no fire
extinguisher, missing passports cards, and missing a 5 by 4 hi-vol adapter. The water
tender was missing a spanner wrench which was found on Tanker 3. The master cylinder
could not be located so the brake fluid was not checked. The ATV was not checked.
Hall cleaning is done on the north side of the training room. The refrigerator in the hall is
full of mold and needs cleaning.
The financial report listed our checking balance at $4488.34 tonight. During the month
we paid for the meeting room carpet for $904.89, bought stamps for $39.00, paid for the
ice auger trophies for $39.30, and paid $24.00 for 3 cases of pop. We deposited $2348.69
from the City, which reimbursed us for the cement blocks and labor for the meeting
room. Our scholarship fund balance is at $852.67.
There was no correspondence.
The legislative report is considering a bill to allow fire fighters to be eligible for
Minnesota care health coverage and also a possible tax credit for being a fire fighter. The
booster seat law may increase the age to 8 for seat requirements.
The safety issue for tonight was the near miss at the live burn where a fire fighters air
supply froze and the fire fighter had to jump out the window. The cause was the tank
valve was not open all the way. Also be careful when driving the Mac tanker in ice and
snow conditions.
The Cuyuna Range meeting is Thursday, March 15, at 7 pm at our hall. The food plan is
for spaghetti and Peterson II has it under control. We will have a hall clean-up on
Tuesday the 13th at 7 pm.
The training room needs five speakers for the ceiling. The carpet is planned to be
installed on Sunday, starting at 8:00 am. The crack in the floor needs to be filled and
Jeremie will trim the windows and doors.
