AREA <br /> OFFICES IN BRAINERD, CROSSLAKE AND PEQUOT LAKES <br /> - - <br /> - February 6, 2007 <br /> Dear Pequot Lakes Mayor and City Council, <br /> The City of Pequot Lakes and their planning partner, Community Growth <br /> 218=82i99 Institute, have posted information on Community Growth Institute's web site to <br /> track the city's study of the highway alternative identified in Resolution 06-23. <br /> CROSSUEE This web site is very comprehensive and identifies numerous areas of study <br /> 218-692-1828 including many that relate to the health of the business community. <br /> Fam 218-692-1828 <br /> Representatives of the Chamber, Brainerd Lakes Area Development Corporation, <br /> PEQUOT LADS and the Pequot Lakes Area Development Organization, met on February 1 to <br /> 218-568-8961 determine if the three organizations would work together to evaluate the two <br /> Fax:218-568-8910 proposed highway routes and their impact to business. Those present agreed that <br /> the impact to business was important in the decision making process, and the <br /> three organizations were interested in asking their respective Boards to consider <br /> participation. <br /> As our organizations identify roles, we would appreciate knowing if the Council <br /> would like our assistance in gathering information as identified on the <br /> Community Growth Think Tank Website/Highway 371 Alternate Route Study <br /> Group under the section"Financial Issues." <br /> Questions: "What is the economic impact of an alternative route on existing <br /> businesses?" and, <br /> "What is the economic impact on an alternative route on new business <br /> opportunities?" <br /> This is a role that the three organizations could play in identifying the issues and <br /> impacts of an easterly alternative route.
