City Council Minutes <br />September 4, 2012 <br />Page 7 of 8 <br />� <br />Council Member Ryan stated the he has attempted to provide better <br />access to public meetings. He stated that we need to get the right <br />equipment to move forward. Mayor Adams stated that it is not the <br />Council's intention to prevent access to Council meetings. Council <br />Member Pederson stated that we should know the number of people in <br />the City who have access to cable TV prior to spending the money. <br />Council Member Pederson suggested using the money to reduce part of <br />the IT budget by placing documents on the website for public access. <br />MOTION CARRIED 3-2. COUNCIL MEMBERS RYAN AND AKERSON <br />VOTED AGAINST THE MOTION. <br />11.5. Consider Ordinance Amendment Reqardina Council `Gompensation <br />The Clerk presented an ordinance amendment reducing the pay for <br />Council Members and Mayor by $50 per month. <br />MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO ADOPT ORDINANCE 12-06, SECOND <br />SERIES, AMENDING CHAPTER 3 OF THE CITY CODE RELATING TO <br />COMPENSATION FOR MAYOR AND COUNCIL PERSONS. COUNCIL <br />MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />� <br />COUNCIL LMEMBER RYAN MOVED TO AMEND THE MOTION TO <br />REDUCE THE MAYOR'S PAY TO MATCH THE COUNCIL PAY. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />THE AMENDMENT FAILED 2-3. MAYOR ADAMS AND COUNCIL <br />MEMBERS PEDERSON AND SJOBLAD VOTED AGAINST THE <br />AMENDMENT. <br />Council Member Ryan stated that he opposes the motion because the <br />money is not a material amount. Council Member Pederson stated that <br />last year the Planning Commission unanimously voted to reduce the <br />Planning Commission pay by 25% in an effort to save money. <br />MOTION CARRIED 3-2. COUNCIL MEMBERS RYAN AND AKERSON <br />VOTED AGAINST THE MOTION. <br />11.6. Health Insurance Renewal Rates <br />The Clerk noted that health insurance premium rates would remain the <br />same for 2013 for non-union employees. <br />� <br />
