Pequot Lakes Police Dept. <br /> Report to the City Council <br /> December 27, 2006 <br /> As of this date, for the month of December the Department has logged 288 individual ICRs. A couple of <br /> Officers have also had time in court during the month. <br /> Activities: <br /> In the month of December, The Reserves, Part time and Full time Officers recorded 571 separate <br /> business and home security checks. Reserves have assisted with crowd security at both girls and boys <br /> high school basketball games. <br /> Reserve Officer T. Leagjeld represented the Police Department Reserve Unit by singing the National <br /> Anthem for the opening of the Holiday Break Hockey Tournament at the Breezy Point Ice Arena today. <br /> The application process for selecting three part time officers is progressing. We are currently waiting for <br /> background packages to be completed on the 5 finalists. <br /> The Dept participated in the Christmas for kids program this year. The Dept along with two local <br /> businesses donated $1000.00 each toward buying presents for local youth. December 18th the Student <br /> Council from Pequot Lakes High School went shopping for gifts for other area teens. They then also <br /> wrapped the gifts to be delivered to the Christmas for Kids organization. On December 23`d, Chief <br /> Braam and Deputy Chief Ryan helped provide transportation for delivery of gifts to area families, while <br /> Officer Hogan and Reserve T Leagjeld were Santa's, Officer Petersen was an Elf, and Office Manager <br /> Wedan was Mrs. Clause and her son, Garrett, also served as a Santa. The program served over 200 <br /> children this year. Everyone had a great time and we look forward to participating next year as well!! <br /> Training: <br /> Dec 21 st: Officer Hogan attended SFST refresher training. He will now be eligible to work during <br /> Safe and Sober campaigns in the area. <br /> Significant Cases: <br /> • Chief Braam and Officers Peterson& Gartner worked during 3 separate Safe and Sober <br /> campaigns, which resulted in 6 DWI arrests during the month. <br /> The Department would like to take this opportunity to thank Councilman Sjoblad for his <br /> dedication and leadership while serving as the Police Department Council Liaison.
