PEQUOT LAKE COMMUNITYLIBRARY
`.. MINUTE OF THE BOARD MEETING
DECEMBER 12, 2006
The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. by President Nancy Adams. Members
present: Nancy Adams, David Anderson, Sam Hennes,Ann Hutchings,Lydia Loven.
Absent: John Longnecker, Claire Nagel. Mary Pfeiffer was present representing the City
Council.
Lydia Loven moved, Sam Hennes seconded,to accept the minutes of the November
21, 2006,minutes. Motion carried.
Dave Anderson gave the Treasurer's Report: We currently have$50,000 in the
Endowment Fund, $10, 000 in our"Rainy Day"fiord, and now$10,000 in what we are
calling our Building/Expansion Fund. All interest from these accounts will be placed into
the checking account as appropriate. There is$2,525.81 in the savings account and
$5,433.46 in the checking account. Ann Hutchings moved, and Lydia Loven seconded,
to accept the Treasurer's Report. Motion carried. A thank you from all board members
was given to Dave Anderson for his work with the finances. It should also be noted that
Ann Hutchings, as a new board member, commended the board for its fiscal
responsibility over the years.
Committee Reports: Volunteers are doing well and covering for one another while
people are away for the winter. Snuggle Up With A Good Book, the adult winter
reading program, will be from January 1 through February 28,2007. There will be a
drawing for a prize at the end of the program although the prize is not yet figured out.
\.. Any ideas for publicity should be passed on to Claire Nagel. Fundraising is on hold for
the winter. Lydia Loven mentioned the possibility of a Christmas Tea in future years.
After discussion, it was thought that this might be a joint activity with the Historical
Society and not necessarily a fundraiser so tickets would be at a reasonable price.
Old Business: The new shelving unit for the Children's Room should be arriving
shortly after the first of the year. Most likely,it will be put together after January 15.
The web page is on hold until John Longnecker returns. The Bring Me A Book Program
for the Echo will begin some time in January. The library did indeed purchase the hen
quilt from Darlene Sexton for the Children's Room where it will continue to hang.
New Business: John Longnecker,Lydia Loven, and Dave Anderson have indicated an
interest in being reappointed to the Library Board. Their names will be submitted to the
City Council. Mary Pfeiffer was asked to attend board meetings as a regular visitor and
to bring ideas that she might have for improving the library. We all hope she will come
on a regular basis.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 P.M. after which Mary Pfeiffer shared some
wonderful chocolates with the Board.
NEXT MEETING is January 16, 2007, at 6:30 p.m.
