Such <br /> signs shall be extensively landscaped with trees, plantings, and natural features, <br /> with approval by Planning Commission and City Council. Such signs may <br /> incorporate fountains, fences, or similar features.Association Identification sign <br /> dimensions shall be regulated in accordance with the sign regulations table as <br /> provided herein,however,the maximum area shall be 32 square feet. <br /> The minimum setback required of Association Identification signs is five feet.All <br /> signs shall have a side setback not less than the height of the sign. <br /> The City of Breezy Point contains the following regarding Onsite Area Identification signs in <br /> Residential Districts: <br /> i. Area Identification signs are permitted by Conditional Use Permit in Residential <br /> Districts and must meet the following: <br /> a. Shall not exceed 32 square feet in size. <br /> b. Shall not exceed 8 feet in height. <br /> c. Shall be located on private property no less than ten feet from property <br /> line or lake setback. <br /> d. Shall be constructed of natural materials and colors and shall be <br /> continually maintained. <br /> e. Shall include a landscaping plan to be installed and continually <br /> maintained. <br /> f. Shall not exceed one sign per entrance. <br /> Planning Commission Direction:The Planning Commission can choose to recommend that <br /> the City Council approve or deny the proposed Ordinance amendments. The Planning <br /> Commission may also choose to table the matter at this time if more information is needed. <br /> Staff Recommendation: The Staff recommends that the following Ordinance amendments <br /> regarding Area Identification Signs be adopted: <br /> • The following definition be added to Section 3.2 Definitions: <br /> Signs,Area Identification. A sign located at the entrance or entrances of the area that is <br /> used to identify a common area containing a group of structures on a minimum of five <br /> acres, such as a residential subdivision, where there exists an association that provides <br /> for the maintenance of the sign or structures. <br /> • Section 7.1, Subdivision 5D Offsite Signs be amended so that the numbering is Section 7.1, <br /> Subdivision 6,rather than 5D. <br /> • Provisions for Area Identification Signs be added as Section 7.1, Subdivision 5D and read as <br /> follows: <br /> D. Residential Districts, including Rural Residential, Transition Residential, Shoreline <br /> Residential,and Urban Residential. <br /> 1. Area Identification Signs are permitted by Conditional Use Permit in the <br /> residential districts listed above,and must meet the following criteria: <br /> i. The size of the sign shall not exceed 32 square feet in area. <br /> ii. The sign shall not exceed eight (8) feet in height, as measured from the <br /> existing ground elevation to the top of the sign.Any landscaping,grading, <br /> City of Pequot Lakes Staff Report 5_2 <br /> November 16,2006 <br />
