The minimum setback required of Association Identification signs is five feet. All
signs shall have a side setback not less than the height of the sign.
The City of Breezy Point contains the following regarding Onsite Area Identification signs in
Residential Districts:
1. Area Identification signs are permitted by Conditional Use Permit in Residential
Districts and must meet the following:
a. Shall not exceed 32 square feet in size.
b. Shall not exceed 8 feet in height.
c. Shall be located on private property no less than ten feet from property
line or lake setback.
d. Shall be constructed of natural materials and colors and shall be
continually maintained.
e. Shall include a landscaping plan to be installed and continually
maintained.
f. Shall not exceed one sign per entrance.
Action: There are a number of ways to address signs of this type, as shown above. The
Planning Commission should discuss the following:
• How should area identification signs be addressed? Over the counter? Require Planning
Commission review?
• What should the maximum square footage allowed be?
• What should the maximum height allowed be?
• Should any additional setbacks should be required other than what is currently
contained within the Ordinance?
• Should any other provisions(such as landscaping)be required?If so,how specific should
these provisions be?
Based on the Planning Commission's discussion and answers to these questions, the Staff will
draft an Ordinance amendment to address these issues for the following meeting.
City of Pequot Lakes Staff Report 4_2
October 19,2oo6
