-- Fire Hall Retail Center— sign concept plan.
Nor-son Construction has submitted a sign concept plan for the renovated
old City Hail. Attached is a copy of this plan. The two "Type A" signs,
freestanding, one facing Government Drive and one facing East Sibley
Street, meet the Ordinance, as well as the signage proposed to be attached to
the building. They are proposing one 8 sq. ft. directional sign ("Type B") to
be located at the northwest corner of the lot. This sign would read
"Additional Shops Around Corner".
The allowable square footage for each freestanding sign would be 120 sq. ft.
(multi-business buildings: 64. sq. ft. for the first tenant and 8 sq. ft. for each
additional tenant -7 tenants). They are proposing 56 sq. ft. for each sign and
have included the 8 sq. ft. directional sign in the allowable 120 sq. ft.
Staff is looking for direction to address this directional sign.
Action: Direct Staff to include this directional sign as part of the
allowable sign area, direct Staff to notify applicant to apply for a
conditional use permit to allow this sign, or (other)
March 16, 2006 Staff Report 1
