The Ordinance describes an accessory structure as "a
building or structure that is supportive, secondary and subordinate in use to the principle
structure on the same parcel or lot. . . "In other words, you cannot place your garage on
the lot across the street if there is not a home currently in place. If the lot that you
purchase has a home on it,then placing the garage on that lot will resolve the issue.
If the lot you purchase does not have a home on it,then you have two avenues available
to resolve the situation. First, you could remove the garage altogether either through
demolition or relocation to a property with an existing dwelling. Your second option is to
apply for a land use permit to construct a new dwelling on the empty lot to which you
wish to relocate the garage.
I realize this seems to get more confusing each time you try to comply, but please feel
free to contact me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Dawn Bittner
Zoning Administrator
CC: Planning Commission
I
i
i
