The meeting,held at City Hall, starts at 6:30 p.m. <br /> As you may already know,the City of Pequot Lakes recently adopted a new Land Use j <br /> and Subdivision Ordinance. The City is in the process of rezoning all properties within ; <br /> the City to conform to the new zoning classifications in the Ordinance and to conform to <br /> the goals described in the City's Comprehensive Plan. <br /> The City has proposed to rezone your property from Agriculture to Rural Residential and <br /> Forest Management, as described in the new Ordinance. The purpose and intent of the <br /> Rural Residential zone is to provide a zoning classification that allows for low-density <br /> residential development. Development in this zone is without municipal utility service j <br /> and with only limited demand for accessibility. Rural Residential zoning should be used <br /> to preserve rural character. <br /> The purpose and intent of the Forest Management zone is to provide a zoning <br /> classification for sustainable management of forested areas,to establish and maintain <br /> timber resources,to protect the natural environment,to preserve undeveloped areas and <br /> to provide recreation opportunities. Development patterns are characterized as very low- <br /> density residential without municipal utility service and with only limited demand for <br /> accessibility. Forest Management zoning should be used to preserve rural character. <br />
