The meeting, held at City Hall, starts at 6:30 p.m. As you may already know,the City of Pequot Lakes recently adopted a new Land Use and Subdivision Ordinance. The City is in the process of rezoning all properties within the City to conform to the new zoning classifications in the Ordinance and to conform to the goals described in the City's Comprehensive Plan. The City has proposed to rezone your property from Agriculture to Rural Residential, as described in the new Ordinance. The purpose and intent of the Rural Residential zone is to provide a zoning classification that allows for low-density residential development. Development in this zone is without municipal utility service and with only limited demand for accessibility. Rural Residential zoning should be used to preserve rural character. For a rezoning,the Commission holds a hearing to review your rezoning and then make a recommendation to the City Council. The City Council then makes the final decision. The City Staff prepares a Staff Report each month for all of the hearings. If you would like a copy of the report for your hearing, there will be one available at City Hall for you to review one week prior to the meeting or you can read it online at www.communitygrowth.com/pequot_lakes/.
