They did note that there was
runoff from not only the new construction, but also from the rear of your lot and also from the west. In spring
snow melt/thaw conditions, there will be times of standing water. This year with our lack of snow cover and deep
frost, may have caused more standing water than other years. Our Engineers felt that once turf is established,
many runoff problems are taken care of. The turf itself directs the water into the soil.
I will schedule our Engineers to visit this site again (no snow this time). I will not be able to schedule this until
sometime in June as I will be out of the office from May 17 through the 28tH
Dawn Bittner
Zoning Administrator
City of Pequot Lakes
From: Celeste [mailto:cgtorg @yahoo.com]
Sent: Saturday, May 05, 2007 8:30 AM
To: dbittner @ pequotlakes-mn.gov
Subject: Question
Hi Dawn. I e-mailed you last week or the week before and asked for an update on the lot next to mine
and have not heard anything. I'm guessing with road restrictions coming off the rest of the county on
May 8th that they may start working on that house again. When all this first started you e-mailed a part
of the Pequot City Ordinance that stated that a property cannot be developed that would create runoff
onto an adjacent property. I would like to know who enforces the Ordinance so I could speak directly to
them. I am getting my documentation ready to take to an attorney, because I have yet to see any one
concerned in resolving this. I lost significant amounts of gravel off the end of my driveway this spring
when it flooded and replacing gravel is not cheap and as a single parent with the economy the way it is,
there is not a lot of money in my budget to fix the problems created by someone else that should have
been addressed long before now. I realize that the gravel is an issue I need to address with the property
owner next door, but I have no idea who really owns that property right now. I do feel it is the City's
place to enforce the Ordinance and I don't see that being done either. I would appreciate if some one
could get back to me and let me know if anything is being done.
Thank you,
Celeste Torgerson
No need to miss a message.
