STAFF REPORT <br /> Item: Park Dedication Formula Policy <br /> Agenda Item:6(a) <br /> Background: At last month's meeting, the Planning Commission recommended that the City <br /> Council adopt the park dedication ordinance amendment, which bases the total dedication <br /> required on the number of expected residents in the proposed subdivision. <br /> Proposed Policy: As directed by the Planning Commission last month, the Staff has drafted <br /> the following Policy for Park Dedication Requirements: <br /> POLICY <br /> FOR DETERMINING <br /> PARK DEDICATION <br /> LAND&FEE REQUIREMENTS <br /> The following policy has been approved by the City Council on to serve as <br /> the basis for determining the park dedication requirements in new subdivisions, as outlined in <br /> Section 9.10 of the Pequot Lakes Land Use Ordinance. <br /> Section i. Purpose and Intent. The purpose and intent of this policy is to establish a <br /> procedure for determining and updating the park dedication requirements as contained in <br /> Section 9.10 of the City of Pequot Lakes Land Use Ordinance. <br /> Section 2. Land Dedication Formula. The City of Pequot Lakes will use the following <br /> formula to calculate the total park land dedication for new residential development within the <br /> City: <br /> Number of Units Y Number of People Y 0.016 acre Park land <br /> in Subdivision X Per Household X (per capita share) Dedication <br /> Area <br /> [Units] X [PPH] X [Share] = Park Land Dedication Area <br /> Where: <br /> [Units] = Number of units in the proposed subdivision <br /> [PPH] = Number of people per household, as determined by the U.S. Census <br /> Bureau or Minnesota State Demographer's Office,whichever is timelier <br /> [Share] = The per cap i it are of parkland, which equal to the City's total <br /> parkland goal cres per i000 residents�us any existing shortfall in <br /> existing parkl <br /> City of Pequot Lakes Staff Report 3_1 <br /> July 19,2007 <br />
