Smith, Jr. <br /> Trailside Estates, LLLP <br /> 19513 State Hwy 371 <br /> Brainerd, MN 56401 VIA FACSIMLE (828-8833) <br /> Re: Pequot Lakes, MN <br /> Trailside Estates <br /> WSN No. 0130B0034 <br /> Dear Mr. Smith: <br /> Tuesday night, we saw you out at the above project's site and commented to you that we had <br /> some concerns about the curb and gutter. <br /> We have talked with Will Hoyt at Landecker. The City hired Landecker to do the on-site daily <br /> observation of construction. We checked with Will today about any information they have on the <br /> curb and gutter and any of their concerns. One of our concerns is that the curb and gutter is <br /> shaped, aligned, and sloped correctly to handle drainage. Will said they had taken elevation <br /> shots in the field but that he has not personally seen those yet. We have asked for a copy of <br /> those. Will also said they noted a few cracked segments of curb and gutter that need to be <br /> replaced, which we noted too. <br /> Will told me told me that you told him this afternoon that you are paving tomorrow, and would be <br /> taking care of the cracked curb and gutter segments at a later time. Our concern is that the <br /> future removal and replacement of curb and gutter segments needing correction will mar the <br /> surface wear course of bituminous pavement, resulting in additional City maintenance over time. <br /> We request that all curb and gutter sections that are cracked, are not aligned properly, or that <br /> will not handle drainage properly be repaired prior to paving. <br /> Under recent previous correspondence, we agreed with your time extension request. We would <br /> appreciate you taking the time to address curb and gutter segments needing correction prior to <br /> paving.
