Police City of Pequot City Hall
218-568-8111 Lakes 218-568-5222
Fax 218-568-5647 Fax 218-568-5860
plpd @pequotlakes-mn.gov 4638 County Road 11 cityhall @ pequotlakes-mn.gov
Fequot Lakes,MN 56472
www.pequotlakes-mn.gov
July 30, 2008
Delivered by Police Department
Robert Swenson
31051 Pine Street
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
Re: City of Pequot Lakes
Potential Ordinance Violation
PIN: 291050040070009
Dear Mr. Swenson:
On June 4, 2008 you were notified in writing that you were likely in violation of the
City's Ordinances regarding Exterior Storage and Abandoned Vehicles, a copy of that
letter is enclosed.
An Abandoned Vehicle is defined as "A motor vehicle as defined in Minnesota Statutes
Chapter 169.01, as amended that(c) has remained on private property for more than
thirty days and is inoperable or is unlicensed unless kept in a garage or other storage
structure. " There are several vehicles lined up along the alley. If any of these vehicles do
not run or are not currently licensed, they need to be removed or stored within a garage.
In the Urban Residential zoning classification, only one(1) recreational vehicle is
allowed if it is stored not less than 10 feet distance from adjacent properties and right-of-
way. It appears you have a motor home and a converted bus along the alley. One of
these must be removed or stored within a garage.
We are requesting that the Abandoned Vehicles and extra recreational vehicle be
removed no later than Auzust 20,2008. Failure to remove or properly store these
items will result in an Administrative Fine in the amount of$100.00 being issued.
Each act of violation in every calendar day upon which said violation occurs or
continues may be considered a separate offense. You will also be responsible to
reimburse the City for any expenses incurred in remedying this violation. This
would include any consultant fees or other professional services that City Staff
determines is necessary, including but not limited to the City Planner at $92.00 per
