MINUTES <br /> JOINT WORK SESSION <br /> OF <br /> PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL AND <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> APRIL 19,2007 <br /> PRESENT: Mayor Malecha, Councilmen Nagel, Ryan, Sjoblad and Oraskovich; <br /> Planning Commission Members Woog, Hallan, Varilek,Adams,Habein, Pederson and <br /> Williams. ABSENT: John Derksen. <br /> STAFF: Mike Loven, Street Superintendent; Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Tim Houle, City <br /> Engineer; Charles Marohn, City Planner; Dawn Bittner,Zoning Administrator. <br /> Minnesota Department of Transportation: Timothy Bray, Project Manager. <br /> The meeting was called to order at 6:00 by Tom Woog, Planning Commission Chair. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES: <br /> Page 2, Mr. Sjoblad's comments should read: Mr. Sjoblad stated that the community <br /> prefers an alternate route. <br /> A motion was made by Tom Adams, seconded by Jim Oraskovich,to approve the <br /> `-' Minutes, as corrected. All members voted"aye". Motion carried. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD#1: <br /> There was no one in attendance that wished to speak. <br /> DISCUSSION ITEM: <br /> Rick Linnell, Superintendent, and Randy Ryan, Transportation Director, Pequot Lakes <br /> Public Schools, address the following: <br /> ➢ How will an alternate route impact school bus routes? <br /> Mr. Linnell provided a power point presentation depicting traffic problems at both the <br /> Middle/High School and Eagle View Elementary. A copy of his handout is made a part <br /> of these Minutes. He stated that there are approximately 135 parent drop-offs at Eagle <br /> View. There are 100 student vehicles at the High School. There is no count of parent <br /> drop-offs at the Middle/High School <br /> Tim Bray, Mn/DOT, stated that speed can be reduced on County Roads,but Highway <br /> 371 is an Inter-Regional Corridor and Mn/DOT will not reduce speeds in school zones. <br /> Joint Work Session of City Council and Planning Commission 1 <br /> April 19, 2007 <br />
