Pawn shops are a necessary part of a
town's economy.
Mr. Williams stated that we went away from listing individual business on the land use matrix.
Adding this back in would be a step backwards. Leaving it general would be the way to go. We
need to get rid of the CUP requirement. Noise and parking should be part of a larger plan.
Mr. Habein stated that it makes it a burden on the individual.
Mr. Williams stated that we need to be pro business and this would help in this regard. That
having been said, there are still going to be concerns with odors and noise.
Discussion followed on regulating nuisances.
Marohn suggested inviting the downtown business owners to see what they would feel would
need to be excluded. It was the general consensus of the Planning Commission that this would
be a good idea.
Staff was directed to prepare information for the Downtown Business owners to review and then
. invite them to the June meeting.
Mr. Hallan stated that the City of Pequot Lakes is not likely to create municipal parking anytime
soon. The downtown businesses that know they need the parking as an essential part of their
business, they tend to make their own off street or subsidized parking. That seems to be what
happens in other places.
b. Shoreland Conservation Design(Alt. Standards)
Tabled for discussion in June.
c.
