MINUTES <br /> PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING <br /> FEBRUARY 18,2010 <br /> PRESENT: Tom Adams, Bill Habein, Dean Williams, Tom Woog, John Derksen and <br /> Mark Hallan. ABSENT: Deb Brown and Scott Pederson. <br /> CITY PLANNER: Charles L. Marohn, Jr., PE,AICP <br /> ZONING ADMINISTRATOR: Dawn Bittner <br /> COUNCIL LIAISON: Craig Nagel <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chairman Woog at 5:36 p.m. <br /> Comprehensive Plan Discussion: <br /> Economic Development Section— <br /> Mr. Marohn explained the changes made to the Intent section and that the Background <br /> paragraph has been rewritten. Three sections have been added to the Background <br /> section: Business Park, Downtown and Highway 371 Corridor. <br /> Chairman Woog informed everyone that he had attended a meeting of the SWOT <br /> Committee the previous week and had explained to them how the information for the <br /> Comprehensive Plan Update had been collected. It was suggested at that meeting that the <br /> information be discussed at the Planning Commission level and the update be taken to the <br /> Economic Development Committee, the Chamber and other groups to see what may have <br /> been missed. <br /> The Business Inventory is being updated and that information will be inserted. The <br /> Business Inventory may give an indication of growth. <br /> The School is an asset and should be recognized. Import/export business should be <br /> included;the comments are included in the January Minutes. <br /> A positive spin could be put on the recession due to the businesses moving to Pequot <br /> Lakes. Why businesses are moving here could be the groundwork for a more <br /> comprehensive plan than growing the market. <br /> Policies section: <br /> Mr. Marohn explained that these have not been updated yet. The first paragraph refers to <br /> Tax Increment Financing.
