Ciey of
Pe;
 Lakes
NEW BUISNESS-ACCESSORY STRUCTURES IN THE AGRICULTURE ZONE
Agenda Item: 6 (a)
Background Information: Pole buildings are considered accessory
structures, which means a pole building could not be constructed without a
principal structure or without living quarters included in the building in any
zoning classification.
Crow Wing County allows accessory structures to be built in any zone without a
principal structure. For lots that are 5 acres or less in size a site suitability
evaluation is required. The site suitability evaluation ensures the property owner
does not place the structure on the only area for the installation of a septic
system.
The City of Jenkins allows for an agricultural accessory structure in the AG
district with no principal structure.
The Cities of Nisswa and Breezy Point do not have Agriculture zones.
Please come prepared to discuss whether or not it would make sense to allow
storage buildings on large tracts (Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Residential)
without a dwelling.
Pequot Lakes Staff Report 6-1
May 19,2016
