PEQUOT LAKES AREA FIRE BOARD <br /> MEETING MINUTES APRIL 27,2016 <br /> The quarterly meeting of the PLAFB was called to order by Chairman Peterson. Members were <br /> welcomed to the meeting.The minutes of the last meeting were not read due to a motion by Sodd, <br /> second by Benson, motion passed. <br /> The first quarter fire call report totaled 16 calls. By types there were 9 good intent, 2 mutual aid <br /> structure fires, 2 structure fires, 1 natural gas leak, 1 motor vehicle fire, and 1 dumpster fire. By <br /> location,there were 10 to Pequot Lakes, 2 to Breezy Point, 2 to Nisswa, 1 to Jenkins City, and 1 to <br /> Crosslake. <br /> The training report totaled 25 hours. By types there were 12 hours of EMR refresher classes, <br /> 6 hours of RIT training at Ideal &Crosslake, 3 hours of reading smoke/smoke path, 3 hours of <br /> Lightweight construction, and 1 hour of SCBA fit and medical physicals. <br /> The first quarter financial report listed our fire fund cash balance at$20.087.35. Our training <br /> expense was reimbursed by the State of Minnesota and our capital outlay for two thermal cameras <br /> and updating one of our present cameras was reimbursed by the Pelican Lakes conservation Club <br /> donation and from the donation letter donations from 2015.Sjoblad motioned to approve the <br /> financial report, second by Hart, motion passed. <br /> First quarter fire personnel and operation report was discussed.These items were listed in the <br /> meeting's agenda. <br /> The Department tested battery powered rescue tools from Hurst Tools and from Genesis <br /> Manufacturing.We decided to order a spreader and a cutter from Genesis because their tools were <br /> lighter weight,very powerful, more compact, and utilized a much cheaper battery.The cost was <br /> within our$21,000.00 budget. City council also approved our request to purchase a new battery <br /> powered ram and tips.The new tools should be delivered soon. <br /> The new washer&dryer we were awarded from last year's AFG grant has been delivered.The <br /> washer will wash a set of personal gear within an hour. It features a very high speed spin extractor <br /> which will shorten dry time.The dryer is also capable of drying fire hose. <br /> The Department will spend $8,000.00 for a renovation for Rescue 1.The truck will be repainted and <br /> the rear doors, rocker panels, and floor boards will be repaired.The Rescue truck was purchased for <br /> $1500.00 from North Ambulance. New replacement cost for a rescue van is about$200,000.00. <br /> The 371 highway project is in progress. Crow Wing County Road 11 will be closed May 18`h when <br /> contractors will begin constructing the overpass bridge for CR 11.A by-pass detour for west bound <br /> traffic to State Highway 371 will veer south to Derksen Road. Our fire response time from Station 1 <br /> east bound to Breezy Point will be slightly delayed. Station 2 at Breezy Point will not be affected. <br /> Road weight restrictions will be lifted next Thursday. <br /> Burning restrictions will be lifted this coming weekend. Continued dry weather may hamper burning <br /> permits availability. <br />
