Planning Commission Direction: The Planning Commission should discuss the two
. lots and make a decision on whether or not Crow Wing County may proceed with its
plans to offer the tracts for sale. The Planning Commission can either approve the
classification and intended sale or choose not to support it. If the County Board is not
notified of a disapproval within 6o days of the date they will be considered approved. If
the City responds with a disapproval within 6o days the County Board will withhold the
parcels from public sale for six months to give the City time to consider acquisition of the
parcels.
Staff Recommendation: The Shady Shores property is zoned Urban Residential while
the Brunes Royce property is zoned Commercial. Staff has reviewed the best available
data on these properties and finds nothing that would prohibit their development for the
uses as zoned. Additionally, the properties carry no significant value as public property
and are not part of any master plan for parks or public facilities. We find no reason why
these properties should not be sold at auction and would recommend that they be listed
as"non-conservation".
Pequot Lakes Staff Report 7(b)-2
January 15,2009
