COMMUNITYGROWTH <br /> I N S T I T U T E GItY of <br /> Erlrerts in Small Touw Plawring Pequ t <br /> OLD BUSINESS—WILDERNESS RESORT VEGETATION PLAN Lakes— <br /> Agenda Item:6(a) <br /> Background Information and Discussion: Wilderness Resort has submitted <br /> updated vegetation plans. These plans appear to conform with the prior conditions of <br /> the CUP approval and the feedback given by the Planning Commission over the past two <br /> months. <br /> The following are the applicable conditions from the CUP. <br /> Applicable Conditions of Approval <br /> i. Prior to submission of a final plat application,the following shall occur: <br /> a. The developer shall submit an updated vegetation enhancement plan. <br /> The plan shall detail preservation areas (natural areas) and the <br /> mechanism for preservation. At a minimum,the plan shall: <br /> i. Restore and preserve all areas within the shore impact zone <br /> outside of the beach and picnic area, except for 8-foot walkways to <br /> the docking areas. <br /> ii. Restore and preserve all areas within a designated bluff. <br /> iii. Preserve all wetlands and all areas within 50 feet of a delineated <br /> wetland. <br /> iv. Provide screening between units 7, 8 41, and 45 and the adjacent <br /> residential property. <br /> v. Provide screening between the proposed storage units and the <br /> adjacent residential and DNR owned property. <br /> The plan must designate specie type and density. The plan must also <br /> specify an implementation schedule. <br /> b. The vegetation enhancement plan shall be reviewed by the Planning <br /> Commission. The plan will be revised as directed by the Planning <br /> Commission. <br /> c. Following review and revision as directed by the Planning Commission, <br /> the vegetation enhancement plan shall be accepted by the Planning <br /> Commission and then become a controlling document for the <br /> development. <br /> 1o. The applicant shall be allowed 40 moorings. No more than 20 moorings shall be <br /> eligible for a shore station or other type of covering or canopy. <br /> 11. The placement of the docks shall be done at the direction and recommendation of <br /> the Department of Natural Resources. <br /> 12. The road in the bluff and shoreline setback shall be removed and re-vegetated. <br /> An 8-foot wide walking trail may replace the road; however, all automobile traffic <br /> shall be banned. The walking trail shall be constructed with pervious materials. <br /> 17. The requested second beach is not allowed as part of this approval. Restoration <br /> of the unauthorized grading on the easterly shoreline shall be completed by June <br /> 1, 20o8. Plantings will be reinspected in August of 2oo8. This work shall take <br /> place under a separate permit that must be submitted by May 1, 2oo8. <br /> 18. Restoration of the unauthorized grading on the westerly shoreline shall be <br /> completed by June 1, 2oo8,unless a separate Conditional Use Permit for grading <br /> has been applied for. <br /> The Conditional Use Permit requires that the Planning Commission direct revisions to <br /> Pequot Lakes Staff Report 6(a)-1 <br /> March 19,2009 <br />
