Minutes to meeting of
Pequot Lakes Community Library
Board of Directors
Tuesday, August 21, 2012
Chairman John Longnecker called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Members present: John Longnecker, Lydia Loven, Sam Hennies, Lavone Sullivan, Jean
Clark and Claire Nagel. Absent: David Anderson.
There was no meeting held on July 17, 2012 for lack of business to discuss.
Sam Hennies, seconded by Lydia Loven, approved the minutes of the June 19 meeting.
In the absence of treasurer David Anderson, John Longnecker gave the financial report.
David provided us with reports for 6/9/2012 through 7/12/2012 and for the present period
7/7/12 through 8/15/12. The balance in the regular checking account at 7/12/12 was
22,826.83. Total of CDs was: $66,522.25. These are both endowment CDs. Total in
Friends of the Library account was $6,715.17.
Treasurer's Report for present period ending 8/15/12 is: Library checking account-
$7,956.08; Endowment CDs (two from 7/12/12 report plus a new $10,000 endowment
CD purchased 7/11/12) equal $76,522.25. A new Rainy Day CD for $5,000 was
purchased on 7/11/12. Friends of the Library account is $7,382.36. We have not received
money from Pequot SuperValu for our take on the brat sale in August, but reported this
month was $97.27 from the tip jar at the brat sale.
Treasurer's reports were accepted by Lavone Sullivan and seconded by Jean Clark.
President John Longnecker reported that we now have a computer back-up system,
installed by Roman Siltman of Watt Computers. Volunteers no longer have to change the
back-up CD each day. This is another step forward for us. The cost for the back-up
system is between $10 and $12 per month.
Jean Clark reported on Legacy Programs. There are two coming up in September and
three in October.
Per our earlier decision to purchase 6-8 new tables from Menard's, John Longnecker did
purchase six new tables for a total cost of $265. When he unloaded and unwrapped them
at the library, he found that two of the tables were damaged. John will return the two
damaged tables for replacements and at the same time purchase two more tables. We
should also look for chairs to add to what we have.
The basket auction will be held Saturday, October 13, 6-9 p.m., at Deacon's Lodge.
Claire Nagel will do posters and tickets. Volunteers are needed as always. Sam Hennies
reminded us to be sure to have Donation Jars at various places.
Lavone Sullivan moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Sam Hennies, at 7:15 p.m.
Next meeting will be Tuesday, September 18, 6:30 p.m.
