MINUTES <br /> PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> REGULAR MEETING <br /> SEPTEMBER 20,2012 <br /> PRESENT: Tom Adams, Deb Brown, Bill Habein, J. J. Levenske, and Cheri Seils. <br /> ABSENT: Scott Snyder. <br /> CITY PLANNER: Justin Burslie, Community Growth Institute <br /> COUNCIL LIAISONS: Jerry Akerson and Nancy Adams <br /> GROW ZONE EXPANSION: <br /> The Planning Commission, Mayor Adams and staff met at the corner of South <br /> Washington Avenue and East Woodman Street to review examples of potential street <br /> sections for the Grow Zone. <br /> Three different street sections were drawn in chalk on the existing roadway. Staff <br /> explained how each section would be build incrementally. <br /> The progress on the Government Drive street reconstruction was also viewed. <br /> CALL TO ORDER: Chair Adams called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM, the Pledge of <br /> Allegiance was recited. <br /> APPOINT CHAIRPERSON: Chair Adams nominated Commission Seils for Planning <br /> Commission Chairperson, Commission Habein second. <br /> All members voted"aye". <br /> Chair Seils opened the Public Hearing: <br /> PUBLIC HEARING: <br /> APPLICANT: City of Pequot Lakes <br /> Applicant requests an Ordinance Amendment Regarding Sign Concept Plan Review <br /> (continuation) <br /> Mr. Burshe reviewed the staff report. Explained how the sign concept plan submittal is <br /> currently allowed by conditional use permit for commercial properties only. The process <br /> is both costly and lengthy. <br /> The proposed amendment allows property owners the ability to increase the number, size <br /> or height of signage on their property in the Commercial/Industrial districts and the <br /> Residential district with approval of the Planning Commission via sign concept plan.
