Smith: This is a follow-up to our February 24, 2009 letter to you and our subsequent meeting on the above referenced project.The City needs you to address sub-standard depth watermain(plans required 8.5 feet of cover)under the agreement's one-year correction period. In looking at gate valve measurements and information from construction notes,the estimate is that you will need to insulate watermain from about Sta 7+20 to Sta 11+00 and from about Sta 12+50 to Sta 12+60(Trailside Road on the plans,what is now called, I believe,Isabelle Drive). Please submit a written plan and corresponding week-by-week bar chart schedule for your corrective work to our office, and copy the City,by no later than Wednesday,May 27,2009. To assist,following is a possible draft that you might want to expand upon: 1. Install proper erosion control devices i 2. Pothole We believe everyone will acknowledge that it will be difficult for you to know the exact depths of the watermain along these above approximate Stations without exposing it. We would anticipate that your plan would be to start near known sub- standard depth gate valves and pothole at intervals out from these locations to better determine the depths of cover over the watermain and extent of the work. 3. Stockpile existing topsoil and remove necessary curb and gutter and pavement See comment in No. 7 below on extents of removals. 4.
