City Code regarding signs. The City Code states in Section 17-7.1 (3-A), SIGNS,that "Exempt Sign. The following signs can.be erected without a permit: Temporary signs pertaining only to the construction, sale or rental of the premises are allowable provided they do not exceed 9 square feet in any zone and are removed within 30 days of the completion of construction, sale or rental." The City Code further states in Section 17-7.1 (4-G)that "No signs, except for official traffic signs, shall be placed on or overhang public property, except where specific permission is granted by the Planning Commission. " I have been to your property and taken the enclosed picture. If this picture accurately depicts the condition of the property,I would have to find that you are in violation of these provisions of the City Code. As opposed to formally citing you for a violation of the City Code,we would like the opportunity to work with you to correct the situation. We are requesting that by no later than May 22,2009 you Permanently remove the existing For Sale sign and replace it with one that meets the City Code of 9 square feet. Please note that for a two-sided sign,both sides of the sign must be counted,not exceeding 9 square feet. In addition,the sign must not be placed within MN/DOT right-of-way or the right-of-way of Royce Street.
