Herstated that representatives from area cities met in <br /> Nisswa in March and that Breezy-,Point is looking to replace their building official and <br /> they were looking to share an inspector. Mr. Mealhouse discussed the adoption process <br /> and the benefits. <br /> Tom Adams pointed out some of the items on page 8 that spurred this discussion, such as <br /> FEMA reconstruction standards, ISO insurance rates and code administration at the local <br /> level. The State may make the code mandatory for all cities, If we would not adopt and <br /> the state would mandate,the administration would be handled by the County with no <br /> local input. The City would benefit to have our involvement and not have the County do <br /> the administration. <br /> Mr. Mealhouse stated that without the building code, FEMA replacement would only be <br /> what you had prior to the destruction; replacement would not meet the building code. <br /> There is no threshold requiring adoption.
