COMMUNILTY City of <br /> GRof�-I Pequot _ <br /> INSTITUTE es <br /> STAFF REPORT <br /> Application: Ordinance Amendment Regarding Animal Husbandry <br /> Applicant: City of Pequot Lakes <br /> Agenda Item:4(c) <br /> Background Information: The City Clerk is in the process of amending Chapter 9 of <br /> the City Code to address the number of dogs allowed per household, amongst other <br /> things. It was determined at the August Planning Commission Meeting that"dogs" and <br /> "cats" should be eliminated from the definition of animal husbandry and that any future <br /> complaints regarding dogs and cats should be addressed with the public nuisance policy. <br /> Applicable Regulations: <br /> Section 17-3.2. DEFINITIONS <br /> 17. Animal Husbandry. The care or breeding of domestic animals such as <br /> cattle, hogs, sheep,horses,poultry, dogs (more than two) or cats (more <br /> than three) for the occupants of a property. <br /> Planning Commission Direction: The Planning Commission can recommend that <br /> the City Council approve the amendment. The Planning Commission can also choose to <br /> not recommend the amendment or the discussion can be tabled. This amendment is <br /> City-initiated so we are not compelled to act. <br /> Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends that the Ordinance Amendment be <br /> approved. <br /> The Ordinance Amendment is attached for your review. <br /> Pequot Lakes Staff Report 4(c)-1 <br /> November 18,2010 <br />
