Cili Of
Pequot
La,kes
Date:
AGENDA ITEM #8.1.
REPORT TO
CITY COUNCIL
August 7, 2012
Subiect: Request to Attend International Chief s
Conference
Report: Request to attend the IACP conference held in
. San Diego from Sept 29th to Oct 3rd. The IACP has had a
long reputation for providing top-notch education on the
most pressing law enforcement topics of the day. The
educational track is for smaller agencies which includes,
reducing overtime through schedule design solutions,

_
police response strategies in cooperation with the
community, training plan for smaller agencies, staying
away from lawsuits to name j ust a few. I had an
opportunity to attend last year and to hear from leaders who
have been there and done that successfully. The days are
action packed and provide for little down time, every day
went from 0730 to 10 pm at night.
The cost to attend the IACP is $275 plus airfare
(around $300). This is a budgeted request and funds are
available to attend.
