Dawn Bittner
From: Larson, Ken (DOT) [Ken.Larson@state.mn.us]
Sent: Tuesday, July 20, 2010 10:49 AM
To: Terry Hanson
Cc: Dawn Bittner; Chuck Marohn at Community Growth
Subject: Proposed Mid-MN CU in Pequot, old DNR site
Attachments: Access Permit Appl.pdf; Drainage Permit Appl.pdf
Terry—as we discussed, Mid-MN Credit Union is buying old DNR site, you're submitting CUP and plans
to city this week for a mid-August P&Z mtg. (and sending us a copy)—here's the basics on Mn/DOT
issues:
Entrance—as per agreement for the new grocery store the existing old DNR entrance must be removed
(by owner) and this parcel must share the new entrance via easement—the easement is already set up,
and the connection point to entrance should be as far west as possible to give maximum stacking
distance for entering highway—an Entrance Permit application is required from owner(it's attached)-
since the only work on R/W will be the entrance removal I just need a $1000 deposit(see info sheet) and
full site plan showing easement/connection/etc. —this permit will document for the new owner and any
subsequent owners the shared entrance conditions.
Trees—Mn/DOT sees the safety need for removal of the cedar trees on the R/W in front of the old DNR
bldg.,will give better visibility for entrance and highway traffic—I will need to review with our Forestry
Office if we should charge something for these trees, they are nice cedars/were there first before these
new developments/the public likes their trees/etc................I'll let you know.
Drainage—you said as of now there were no plans to increase drainage to R/W, it would all be handled
on-site and go west(?), but you'd review the plans—we want to review the site plan and drainage
comps too- if you ask to change drainage to R/W a Drainage Permit(attached) may be needed from
M n/DOT.
When I'll get your plans I'll forward to our staff, I'll watch for Entrance Permit appl., and I'll be in touch
re:the trees- KL
Ken Larson
Mn/DOT D3A Maintenance Engineering Specialist
Permits&Roadway Regulations
7694 Industrial Park Rd.
Baxter, MN 56425
desk 218-828-5777
cell 218-232-6708
fax 218-828-5815
ken.larson @state.mn.us
7/28/2010
