COMMUNITY C'ty of GIiOwrjrn Pequot - INSTITUTE ,,;- STAFF REPORT Application: Conditional Use Application for Home Occupation(continuation) Applicant: David Kennedy Agenda Item:4(c) Background Information: The applicant is requesting a conditional use permit for a Type III Home Occupation in their home located at 29064 Voyager's Pass. The property owners are current owners of All Things Herbal Ltd which was located in downtown Pequot Lakes. The business is currently downsizing, which is the reason for the request to turn it into a home occupation. I venom .*i All Things Herbal makes handmade soaps, bath salts, and lotions. The products will be manufactured onsite with the use of regular kitchen equipment such as a mixer,blender and coffee grinder. The applicant has indicated there will not be any daily trips for shipping and receiving. The business will use the United States Mail Carrier Pick-up Program which allows the regular mail carrier to pick up shipments when the mail is delivered. The applicant has also indicated that other shipping will be sent from Booth Office Supply. Most supplies are picked up on personal trips to the Twin Cities or shipped to the owner's other business in town. The applicant has indicated they would like to place a small sign on the property as well. The property is located in the Shoreland Residential District on the Gull River where Type III Home Occupations require a CUP. The property is approximately .91 acres and contains a single family dwelling. The request was tabled at the March meeting at the request of the applicant. Applicable Regulations:The following regulations apply to this property: Section 17-3.2. DEFINITIONS 121. Home Occupation, Type III. A home occupation, the commercial nature of which involves providing a service or product to people or organizations within the home.
