COMMUNITY CHARACTER <br /> 1. Adopt new standard street sections that reduce long-term costs by narrowing lane widths to <br /> appropriate neighborhood scale and providing safe pedestrian mobility throughout the city. <br /> 2. Adopt new standard road sections that reduce long-term costs by narrowing lane widths on <br /> local roads to a rustic, low volume, low speed scale. <br /> 3. Create a Park Plan for the Grow Zone and surrounding neighborhoods that leverages park <br /> investments to promote livability and encourage private-sector investment. <br /> 4. Perform an assessment of walkability in the Grow Zone and throughout the surrounding <br /> neighborhoods to determine areas of high and low pedestrian mobility and identify priority <br /> corridors for mobility improvements. <br /> 5. Create and adopt a Gov. 2�strategy to provide continuous engagement with residents through <br /> online platforms. <br /> 6. Establish an outdoor skating rink in the Grow Zone or the surrounding neighborhoods for use <br /> during winter months. <br /> 7. Establish a splash pad or other water-based recreational amenity in the Grow one or the <br /> surrounding neighborhoods for use during the summer months. <br /> 8. Create a distinguishing gateway to highlight the transition to the Grow Zone (downtown) <br /> portion of Pequot Lakes. <br /> 9. Commission local artists to create public art throughout the town. Budget money and fundraise <br /> for one or two projects each year. <br /> 10. Continue to provide entertainment in the Trailside Park on summer weekends. <br /> 11. Provide designated off-site parking for venders and other support personnel during downtown <br /> festivals and gatherings so that the public space is not cluttered with vehicles and parking is <br /> available for patrons and visitors. <br /> 12. Work with Crow Wing County to properly-scale the TH 371 and CSAH 11 corridors through the <br /> Grow Zone area following the construction of the TH 371 Ake;ia_t&Alignment. Ensure that these <br /> corridors maintain a character that encourages pedestrian activity throughout the Grow Zone. <br /> 13. Ensure that improvements to Government Drive provide a platform for growth consistent with <br /> the vision tlined,�n��the Don Plan. <br /> 14. Utilize they Center for public fe ents like guest lecturers, public debates and discussions, <br /> book clubs and other civic-minded gatherings. <br /> 15. Ensure that all future lighting installed is scaled to neighborhood standards. <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br /> 16. Change the City's budgeting process to include a five-year budget projection as part of the <br /> annual budgeting process. <br />
