COMMUNIT Y 'of
GROWTH Pe
INSTITUTE Lake S.
NEW BUSINESS
Agenda Item: 8(a) Grow Zone Expansion
Background Information: The Housing section of the Comprehensive Plan contains
the following implementation strategy:
Extend the Grow Zone approach to the surrounding traditional neighborhoods
through adoption of a form-based code for these places.
To begin to develop the standards,we first need to identify the area to be studied. We are
proposing the following as the rough boundaries of an expanded Grow Zone.
km
all
wWesi*rneume
k y
$ w
V. s►
We don't need to get this exact at this time, but if there are obvious areas we should look
at in addition to those marked, they should be identified at this time.
The next step is to do a detailed examination of each block as we did with the core
downtown Grow Zone standards.Any new standards will need to be compatible with the
existing form and/or build off of the existing form in a traditional neighborhood pattern.
This will be a much more complex undertaking than the original Grow Zone, but we
should be able to complete the new standards by the end of 2011.
Pequot Lakes Staff Report 8(a)-1
April 28,2011
