The Ordinance,
as adopted in 2004, does not contemplate new public facilities. This was not an
intentional omission, but nonetheless, the Ordinance does not provide for the
establishment of a new public use.
This does not mean that the City does not support the School District or efforts to
modernize the bus maintenance facility. To the contrary, the current draft of the
Comprehensive Plan contains statements of specific support for the District,
including the following policy (Housing section):
Promote an excellent school district and housing policies that cater to a
diverse workforce. The success of businesses in the community will
depend on people choosing to move to, live in and invest in Pequot Lakes.
A healthy school and desirable workforce housing are two of the most
critical components necessary to attract workers and investment. To the
extent possible, the City of Pequot Lakes needs to support the local
school district and work to implement a robust housing strategy for the
urban neighborhoods of Pequot Lakes.
WWW.COMMUNITYGROWTH.COM WWW.STRONGTOWNS.ORG
