COMMUNITY city of
GROV x Pequot '
INSTITUTE es
STAFF REPORT
Application: Ordinance Amendment for Regarding Public Use
Applicant: City of Pequot Lakes
Agenda Item: 4(a)
Background Information: In light of a recent request to establish a public bus
storage shelter to the Business/Industrial Park,it was discovered that"Public Use"is not
addressed in the Zoning Ordinance.
Staff has prepared an ordinance amendment that would include "public use" in the land
use matrix. As the draft is currently written, the "Public Use" of a property would be a
permitted use in all of the zoning districts except for "Open Space" and "Water
Resource,"where it would be"excluded".
A definition has also been created.
The Ordinance Amendment is attached for your review.
Applicable Regulations: Currently "Public Use" is not included in the land use
matrix.
Planning Commission Direction: The Planning Commission may either
recommend that the application be approved or denied, with or without changes to the
text provided here. The application can also be tabled. Guidance can be given to staff for
modifications to be presented at the next meeting. There is no requirement that the
Planning Commission must act at this time.
Staff Recommendation: We recommend that the application be approved.
Pequot Lakes Staff Report 4(a)-1
August 18,2011
