ORDINANCE NO. 12-01, SECOND SERIES <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTERS 3 AND 17 OF THE CITY CODE <br /> REGARDING THE COMPOSITION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES <br /> COUNTY OF CROW WING <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> The City Council of the City of Pequot Lakes does ordain as follows: <br /> Purpose and Intent: The purpose of this ordinance amendment is to amend Chapters 3 <br /> and 17 of the Pequot Lakes City Code relating to the organization of the Planning <br /> Commission. <br /> Amendment#1: Chapter 3, Article 7 and Chapter 17, Article 11, shall be amended as <br /> follows: <br /> Section 3-7.1 PLANNING COMMISSION MEMBERS <br /> The Planning Commission shall consist of no less than seven (474 five 5) and no more <br /> than seven (7) members who are residents or landowners of the City and appointed by the <br /> City Council for terms of three years. All terms shall end on December 31; however, <br /> commissioners shall hold office until their successors have been appointed. A vacancy <br /> shall be filled by the City Council for the remainder of the term. The members of the <br /> Planning Commission, by a majority vote, shall elect one of the appointed commissioners <br /> at the first meeting of the year to serve as chair. <br /> See City Code Chapter 17 for additional information regarding the Planning Commission. <br /> Section 17-11.3 PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> 1. Organization of the Planning Commission <br /> A. The Planning Commission shall consist of no less than five (5) and no <br /> more than seven (7) members appointed by the City Council. A Council member <br /> shall be a non-voting additional member and shall act as a liaison to the City <br /> Council. Each member other than the council liaison shall hold office for 3 years <br /> and terms shall be staggered. The Mayor shall appoint the council liaison on an <br /> annual basis with the City Council concurrence. Vacancies shall be filled for the <br /> remainder of the term by the City Council. <br /> C. The Commission shall meet a minimum of eleven twelve times a year at a <br /> regular meeting unless the docket is empty in which case the Mayor and/or <br /> Chairman can approve suspension of a meeting. Special meetings shall be <br /> advertised in the official newspaper and posted in the City Hall at least 10 days in <br /> advance of the meeting. <br /> \..
