City of Pequot Lakes <br /> WAC& SAC Assistance <br /> July 20, 2012 <br /> One way to calculate the SAC is to use the full system capacity. <br /> Permitted wastewater flow z 45,000,000 gallons per year <br /> Wastewater ERC =34,700 gallons per year <br /> Wastewater capacity = 1,297 ERCs <br /> Estimated wastewater capital cost =$4,000,000 <br /> Wastewater cost per ERC,or SAC =$3,090 <br /> Another way to calculate the SAC is to use the remaining system capacity. <br /> Permitted wastewater flow =45,000,000 gallons per year <br /> Wastewater flow =23,000,000 gallons per year <br /> Remaining wastewater capacity z 22,000,000 gallons per year <br /> Wastewater ERC =34,700 gallons per year <br /> Remaining wastewater capacity z 634 ERCs <br /> Estimated wastewater capital cost z$4,000,000 <br /> Wastewater cost per ERC, or SAC z$6,310 <br /> WAC Calculations <br /> An important variable is the capital cost of the wastewater system that the WAC is being <br /> �. applied to. <br /> Water capital costs can include wells,water treatment plants,water towers,maybe main <br /> line or looping watermains, land, engineering, administrative, legal,and financing costs. <br /> We have estimated a value of the present system as follows: <br /> Wells z$0.1 million <br /> Water Treatment Plant =$2.1 million <br /> Water Tower =$0.7 million <br /> Land, Eng.,Admin. Legal,and Financing =$0.9 million <br /> Total Estimated Water Capital Costs =$3.8 million <br /> The first item to calculate is the equivalent residential connection(ERC)amount per year. <br /> Residential water flow =9,500,000 gallons per year <br /> Water residential connections =245 ERCs <br /> Water ERC =38,800 gallons per year <br /> The next item to calculate is the capacity of the water treatment plant/system. This is a <br /> somewhat variable number based on the hours the plant operates,the gallons per square <br /> foot applied to the filters,the resulting water quality desired,and any water tower/ <br /> storage/demand limitations on the system.
