City of
Pequot
Lakes-
November 1, 2012
Kenneth P. and Diane Lund
4785 Townline Road
Loretto, MN 55357
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Lund:
This letter is to follow-up our telephone conversation yesterday. I was unable to approve
the installation of the new Subsurface Sewage Treatment System you installed due to the
following:
1. There was no clean-out between the dwelling and the tank;
2. The trenches were installed too deep; trenches may not be more than 48 inches
deep. One end of the trenches were at 54 inches and the other end at 72 inches;
3. The treatment area was approximately 82 feet from the shallow well;the
treatment area may not be within 100 feet of a shallow well.
As we discussed the treatment area must be abandoned. I had a licensed Designer
accompany me to the site on Wednesday and he suggested installing another tank to be
used as a lift tank and pump the effluent behind the dwelling to a pressure bed. That is
only one option. I suggest you contact a Designer; I am enclosing a list compiled by
Crow Wing County.
As I mentioned yesterday,the City of Pequot Lakes will be more than happy to work
with you to remedy this situation. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Dawn Bittner
Zoning Administrator
C: Planning Commission
4638 CouNTY ROAD 11 • PEQuoT IAKEs, MN 56472 • (218) 568-5222 • FAX: (218) 568-5860 • www.pegLiodakes-n-in.gov
