City Of
Pequot
Lakes
MEMORANDUM
TO: Planning Commission Members
FROM: Pete Clement, Park Commission Chair
DATE: March 9, 2012
SUBJECT: Sign Ordinance
At the Park Commission meeting on March 0',we reviewed the existing sign regulations
for temporary signs. The existing regulations affect the "Bands in the Park"banner that
we use to advertise the program. During the discussion it was brought to our attention
that the Planning Commission will be reviewing the Sign Ordinance and that the
Commission is requesting comments on the existing ordinance.
The Park Commission uses the temporary banner to advertise the band concerts which
occur every Saturday during summer months. The concerts draw many people into the
community. The restriction on the number of days allowed to display this sign is a
detriment to the program.
The Park Commission would like to offer a recommendation relating to temporary
banners. The Park Commission requests the Planning Commission to consider an
amendment to withdraw any time restraints on temporary banners which promote the
community.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter.
