Council Member Gardner questioned if the comprehensive plan is a four
year plan. Mr. Marohn stated that the comprehensive plan should be kept
current and it is generally reviewed every 4-5 years. Mayor Adams stated
that an in depth review should be done every 10 years.
COUNCIL MEMBER SJQBLAD MOVED TO ADOPT THE
COMPREHENSIVE PLAN. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON
SECONDED THE MOTION.
Council Member Akerson questioned why the entrance/gateway to Pequot
was not addressed. Mr. Marohn stated that the gateway is not defined
because there is a lot of work involved in this.
MOTION CARRIED 4-1. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON OPPOSED.
6.2. Preliminary and Final Plat for SuperValu
Chuck Marohn stated that the paperwork has been received from
SuperValu and no action is needed at this time.
9.3. North Washington Avenue Proposal
Mike Loven requested a proposal for design from WSN for North
Washington Avenue. Design plans would include diagonal parking on
both sides of the street and eight foot sidewalks.
Council Member Gardner questioned if this request is only to get a
proposal. Mr. coven stated that this is to get ideas to come up with a
proposal.
Council Member Pederson stated that this street is key for County Road
11 and a main functionality of downtown. He would like the City to
pullback and get planning and zoning involved and consider the possibility
of bike racks, park benches, and public restrooms.
Chuck Marohn stated that there isn't justification for a lot of improvements,
but rather to stage the improvements, design, and layout so that as things
are developed it would tie together. He would like planning & zoning
involved to see if more things can be constructed upfront so there are no
costly retrofits down the line.
Mike Loven stated that there are easement, storm water, and elevation
issues that will need to be addressed.
t
February,2013 Staff Report Page 4
