From Council Member Loukota: City Motto Ideas: • "Life in the Woods and Waters" • "A community that does life together" • "A place to play,work, live and do business" Vision Statement: • The City of Pequot will be a sustainable,vibrant, and welcoming community with engaged citizens and an accountable government. o A safe,clean, beautiful,small-town atmosphere o Promote Pequot as an affordable place to live,work,and play o Preserve and expand natural spaces and parks o Encourage citizens to be involved by giving feedback(both positive and negative),asking questions, listening to other citizens,volunteering at school and city events and welcoming and reaching out to new neighbors o Those in the government should be trustworthy, reliable and accountable.They should be willing to change with the wants and needs of the community. From Council Member Pederson: A vision statement captures what community members most value about their community, and the shared image of what they want their community to become. A thoughtful vision statement is one of the elements needed to form a forward looking strategic framework that gives councils or boards the long-term comprehensive perspective necessary to make rational and discipline tactical/incremental decision on community issues as they arise. Vision: • To shape a future for our City that provides the services and amenities that characterize a healthy, active community while preserving and enhancing its natural features. • To make Pequot Lakes the ideal place in the lakes area to live, work, recreate, raise a family, operate a business,and visit. • Pequot Lakes will continue to grow and diversify. Have desirable neighborhoods and business community in a natural setting. Will be a safe,clean,and accessible community with small town atmosphere providing a high quality of life and strong sense of pride in our community. Mission (fulfilling the vision): • The City Council will provide the leadership in protecting Pequot Lakes' natural setting while developing the City in a way that provides a balance of housing and business opportunities. • A community characterized by a desirable quality of life including: Recreation opportunities: Parks; Lakes;Trails Safe environment: Police;Street Lights;Sidewalks Economic viability: Stores;Shops;Services; Mfg;Jobs Municipal services: Library; Schools; Fire Dept; Parks;Streets Infrastructure: Water&Sewer; Utilities; High Speed Internet
