6.3. Rezoning from Forest Management to Rural Residential & Commercial by <br /> Charles and Beverly Peterson <br /> Staff report by Chuck Marohn. The applicant is proposing to rezone two <br /> separate areas of their property located at the south intersection of Hurtig <br /> Road and County Road 168. The applicants are requesting to rezone 6.63 <br /> acres west of Hurtig Road from Forest Management to Rural Residential <br /> and 2.18 acres from Forest Management to Commercial. The Planning <br /> Commission recommends that the Council approve the rezoning request. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO ADOPT ORDINANCE 13-04 <br /> AMENDING THE OFFICIAL ZONING MAP FOR THE EVENSON <br /> PROPERTY AND THE CHARLES PETERSON PROPERTY. COUNCIL <br /> MEMBER GARDNER SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4- <br /> 0. <br /> 6.4. Trailside Park Acquisition <br /> Chuck Marohn stated that the Planning Commission has considered the <br /> merits of the City acquiring the north side of the Trailside Park from the <br /> DNR and recommends approval. The Clerk noted that the Park <br /> Commission also reviewed the request and recommends that the Council <br /> move forward with the purchase. The cost of the property is $3,547.52. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 13- <br /> 12 AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF THE TRAILSIDE PARK <br /> PROPERTY IN THE CENTER OF TOWN FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF <br /> NATURAL RESOURCES. COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER SECONDED <br /> THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 9.2. City Engineer Report -Verbal <br /> Tim Houle informed the Council that there are a few items to take care of <br /> on the Government Drive project and that the project will close very soon. <br /> Tim Houle noted that he did not have a Washington Street design <br /> proposal at this time. Council Member Sjoblad stated that he has an issue <br /> with the parking as proposed. He noted that the parking is currently <br /> inefficient at the area of the restaurant and the shoe store. He noted that <br /> he does not believe the street should be designed to be pretty but be <br /> designed to be more utilitarian. Council Member Akerson and Council <br /> Member Gardner concurred that there is a need for more parking in the <br /> area. <br /> Tim Houle stated that he will draft a design of diagonal parking, curb and <br /> gutter for south half of the block, curbed bump-outs mid block, pavement <br /> April, 2013 Staff Report Page 2 <br />
