Council Meeting Notes:
➢ The City Council Meeting was held August 6 and an excerpt of
the draft Minutes are included:
9.1. City Engineer Report—Verbal Update
Tim Houle stated that the sidewalk improvements are very close to
complete.
Tim Houle noted that Tim Bray is continuing to pursue the turnback
discussions on Highway 371 and County Roads 11 and 112. He noted
that Tim Bray suggested that the City concentrate on the roads that come
from MnDOT (Highway 371). The Council discussed the process the City
should follow. It was determined that the Planning Commission should
look at the big picture as to how they want the roads to look and be used.
Council Member Pederson asked if there will be a cost analysis done on
the turnback roads. Tim Houle explained that they can do a life cycle
analysis but first we need to look at what kind of roadway the City wants.
Council Member Sjoblad questioned the timing for acquiring the roadway.
Tim Houle explained that for a state road it is two years but a longer time
can be negotiated. It was the consensus of the Council that the Planning
Commission designate two Planning Commissioners and Justin Burslie to
serve on the Roadway Turnback Committee.
Tim Houle stated that the City has been requested to make a presentation
to the House Capital Investment Committee regarding the City's request
for funding to relocate the spray irrigation equipment. Council Member
Sjoblad and Council Member Gardner stated they would be available to
make the presentation.
9.3. Dog Park
The Clerk informed the Council that the Park Commission is requesting
permission to move forward with the construction of a Dog Park to be
located at Sibley Lake Park. It is proposed that the park be funded with
donations to be raised by the 4-H group.
August, 2013 Staff Report Page 2
