Commu.NTITY
GROW141 cry of
INSTITUTE Pequot
r
PRE-MEETING DISCUSSION Lakes =
We will be meeting at the south parking lot of Trailside
Park (near the Chamber building) at 6:oo PM.
Background Information: The "Pequot Lakes Downtown Plan" has been a work in progress since 2007.
The plan has not officially been adopted. It was last updated in 2011. The City Council has directed to Planning
Commission to review/update the plan since revitalization of the downtown area is a critical to the long-term
financial health to the City.
This month we will focus on"Vegetation Enhancements"and public art opportunities.
Track changes to the current plan are identified below.
In the near term, there are a number of low-cost initiatives that the City can undertake to improve the value of
Trailside Park. Those include the following:
1. Install medium-height(4-6 feet) shrubs to provide a buffer between the trail and the north parking lot
located near East Sibley Street.
0
Buffer Buffer Buffei
JM
v
- r _T M
2. At the north end of the park, trees have been planted between the trail and the diagonal parking area on
Government Drive. These trees should be allowed to mature so there is a perceived barrier between the
trail and the street. Some sightlines should remain open between the park and Government Drive
businesses so trail users can clearly see what Pequot Lakes has to offer.
Pequot Lakes Staff Report
July 17,2014 1
