Minutes of the Pequot Lakes Library Board of Directors' Meeting Of Tuesday, August 20, 2013 July meeting was cancelled Meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. Board members present: John Longnecker, Lavone Sullivan, Renee Moodie, Claire Nagel, David Anderson and Sam Hennies Board members absent: Jean Clark Minutes of the June meeting were accepted by Lavone and seconded by Sam. All ayes. Reports: New business: Old business: David Anderson gave the treasurer's report. Since our last meeting we have made: for Book Sale, $2,531.96; Brat Sale, $181.88; June Fund Drive, $6,229.43; Popcorn sales, $726.53; and interest from a CD, $58.65. As of 8/15/13, we have $30,082.42 in our library checking account; $73,170.75 in Endowment Certificates, and $10,131.94 in our Rainy Day CD, for a total of $113,385.1 l. Treasurer's report was accepted by Sam Hennies and seconded by John Longnecker. Publicity: All is going well. Reminder from Claire to let her know if something comes up that needs publicizing. President's report: John reported that Lakes Gas donated propane for the popcorn wagon, and Watt Automotive donated four new tires for the popcorn wagon trailer. Thank you to them. John said that we will have our basket auction on Saturday, October 12, same time/same place. Jean Clark was not present to give a report on public programs. Claire said that there will be a Pequot Library-sponsored program on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 10 a.m. We will sponsor Dr. Douglas Davis in a program on "Understanding Islam." The work on the front of the building to close off the kids' room door and the computer room door will start in August. Warren Anderson gave us a bid of $1369.66 to do the job, which was accepted last meeting. Work on the parking lot will be started in September. The bid of $11,760 from Tri-City was accepted last meeting with one dissenter. We will be in the Santa parade in December. Renee will be the spokesman for preparation. The Kids' Summer Reading Program was a huge success. Thanks to Terri Grimes and her legion of helpers for a job well done.
