Pequot Lakes Staff Report 4(a) - 2
April 16, 2015
The Business/Industrial Park is located in the Light Industrial Zoning
Classification. Amending the Ordinance to exclude Public Uses in the Light
Industrial Zone will extend to all properties zoned Light Industrial, not simply
the Business/Industrial Park. The Zoning Map is included.

Applicable Regulations: Currently “Public Use” is allowed in all zoning
classifications in the Land Use Matrix. Staff has prepared an ordinance
amendment that would exclude “public use” in the Light Industrial zone. The
underlined text is the proposed language to be added. The strikethrough
language is proposed to be removed.

Staff Findings: Staff provides the following Findings of Fact for consideration
by the Planning Commission:
1. The amendment reserves all space within the Industrial/Business Park for
uses that will pay property tax and will employ people;
2. The amendment is in conformance with the Comprehensive Plan.

Planning Commission Direction: The Planning Commission can approve
the Ordinance Amendment, deny the application, or table the request if
additional information is needed. If the motion is for approval or denial,
Findings of Fact should be cited.

Staff Recommendation: We recommend that the application be approved.
