March 19, 2015 Staff Report Page 5 <br /> <br />like to see the money from MnDOT to go toward a more permanent solution <br />so as to not waste the taxpayers’ dollars. <br /> <br />Public Facilities Update <br /> <br /> Tim Houle addressed the Council regarding the City’s spray irrigation field. <br />He explained that the proposed route dissects the City’s present spray <br />irrigation field. MnDOT has told the City that due to its accelerated schedule, <br />they would commit funds to provide a ‘temporary’ disposal system. The City <br />has discussed with MnDOT the desire to use funds that MnDOT might <br />provide to address a more permanent solution versus using them on a <br />‘temporary’ solution. The City is researching a row irrigation system that <br />would be located on the east side of the new Highway 371. <br /> <br />Mayor Sjoblad stated that if MnDOT would have to haul the waste away, it <br />would cost over one million dollars. Council Member Pederson stated that <br />any improvement to the system will have to be paid for by the 387 sewer <br />customers. If the new Highway was not coming through the City would not <br />have to change the system; just replace the irrigators and some other <br />equipment for about $500,000. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />March 3, 2015 City Council Minutes excerpts: <br />1.5. Highway 371 Discussion <br /> <br /> Mayor Sjoblad stated that staff has prepared a spreadsheet which describes <br />the roads to be turned back from the County to the City and the financial <br />impacts to the City. <br /> <br /> County Road 112 – The County’s contribution to the City for this road is <br />$793,500. The City is proposing 2 blocks of a full urban reconstruction which <br />would cost over one million dollars. <br /> <br />• There was a consensus of the Council to accept the turnback of CR <br />112 from the County; however, there was no consensus on accepting <br />the proposed dollar amount from the County. <br /> <br /> CSAH 11 – The Council discussed the proposed improvements to CSAH 11 <br />that has been proposed by the City. Because this road is going to be the <br />main entrance there were aesthetic improvements included in the City’s <br />plans. The cost for the City’s proposal was over $3 million dollars. The <br />County’s contribution to the City for the road improvements to CSAH 11 is <br />$659,000. <br />
