Pequot Lakes Staff Report 7(d) - 1 <br />January 15, 2015 <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />Topic: League of Minnesota Cities – Land Use Incentive <br /> <br />Agenda Item: 7(d) <br /> <br /> <br />Background Information: Land Use claims account for 19% of all liability claims <br />paid in the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance Trust (LMCIT). The Land Use <br />Incentive program rewards Property/Casualty program member cities that successfully <br />complete online training about land use. Qualifying member cities earn a savings of as <br />much as $3,750 per land use claim. Cities that do not meet the training requirements <br />will pay a greater rate for each land use claim. <br /> <br />In order to qualify for the land use incentive, the following people must take Course <br />LU501 – Land Use Basics: Grasping the Ground Rules. <br /> <br /> Quorum of the Council; <br /> Planning Commission Chair (Chair Seils); <br /> Another Planning Commission Member; <br /> City Planner or other person responsible for planning activities (Zoning Admin. <br />Bittner). <br /> <br />The course takes only about 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete. Zoning Administrator <br />Bittner will register participants for the course and it can be completed at your home on <br />your personal computer. The registration fee will be paid by the City. <br /> <br />Action Requested: A Planning Commission Member to volunteer to take the course. <br />
